The Equipment Maintenance Shop Foreman position is responsible for providing leadership and management of personnel, material, and associated work processes. These functions include the work prioritization, execution, and documentation of maintenance/repair activities assigned to the equipment department maintenance facility. The Foreman will also be accountable for coaching and advising technicians to assist in personnel development, competency levels, and shop productivity. Work scopes will include light/heavy vehicles, heavy equipment, and small equipment/engine repairs. The Foreman will provide direction and coaching to all shop technicians through the repair process to ensure the work is executed in a safe and complaint manner. This position reports directly to the Equipment Manager and is responsible for the accuracy of all work order documentation and will also communicate heavily with all levels of management, internal customers, and external business partners.


  • Daily management of shop technicians and assigned work scopes
  • Ensure work order prioritization and assignments are aligned with technician competency levels
  • Accountable for shop & technician productivity and quality
  • Assigns jobs to technicians, follows up on progress, and assists when necessary.
  • Must conduct daily “toolbox” safety talks with shop personnel
  • Responsible for data quality of service/repair work orders
  • Communicate with management, daily, to maintain shop priorities
  • Review work orders daily for accuracy and completeness
  • Evaluate Maintenance technicians’ job performance and competency levels
  • Maintain communication between all departments
  • Maintain communication with vendors on equipment issues
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Responsible for floor level operations of the shop.
  • Performs inspections when vehicles/equipment is returned to the maintenance shop
  • Inspects vehicles for roadworthiness and generates work orders for any discrepancies identified
  • Reviews, approves, & submits all shop employees’ time.
  • Assists the Equipment Manager with employee scheduling, productivity reviews, and daily operation of shop.
  • Responsible for functions at the fuel island and wash rack
  • Assists with training, coaching, & development of shop employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum 3-5 years’ experience managing an equipment maintenance facility with 6+ technicians
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, mechanical systems and components.
  • Technical aptitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, Word & Outlook), Internet, and applicable company specific applications.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and expediting the turnaround of light/heavy vehicles, off road construction equipment, small equipment/small engine
  • Must be people-oriented with the ability to build business relationship
  • Exceptional customer service and organizational skills are required
  • Ability to participate in online OEM self-paced training modules.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose component problems.
  • The ability to lead and train all service technicians is necessary
  • Familiar with diagnostic equipment
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Equipment/Vehicle OEM maintenance facility management experience
  • ASE Master Tech
  • Technician certifications with Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo
